1 Press the shortcut
From any window, press Alt Shift S. Your screen dims and Snipwise gets ready to capture. You can change the shortcut in Settings.
FEATURES
Snipwise sits quietly in your tray. When something on your screen doesn't make sense, press a shortcut, drag over it, and get an explanation or an answer. Then keep asking.
For Windows 10 and 11. macOS is coming soon.
THE BASICS
From any window, press Alt Shift S. Your screen dims and Snipwise gets ready to capture. You can change the shortcut in Settings.
Draw a box around a question, a block of code, a chart, a paragraph or an error message. Press Enter to capture the whole screen instead, or Esc to cancel.
Your snip is explained straight away, and the reply appears as it is written. Out of the box Snipwise explains what it sees. You can pick a different default in Settings.
Ask a follow-up, attach a picture, or tap a quick prompt to solve, summarize, translate or pull out the text. The whole conversation stays with the snip.
WHAT IT CAN DO
Pick the one that fits. You can switch to another on the same snip without capturing it again.
Walks through the question, code, chart or error message in plain language, then gives the answer.
Works through every problem step by step and puts the final answer on its own line.
A line or two of working and the answer. Nothing more.
Writes a new question like the one you snipped, with the answer after a divider so you can try first.
Boils a page or passage down to a few bullet points with the key ideas and numbers.
Copies the text, tables, code and math out of the picture exactly as written.
Translates the text on screen into the language you choose in Settings.
MAKE IT YOURS
Snipwise bends to the way you work. Change the keyboard shortcuts, switch the theme, and decide what a snip does and where the answer appears. It all lives in Settings, and Snipwise remembers your choices.
Not a fan of Alt, Shift and S? Click a shortcut in Settings, press the keys you would rather use, and that is the new shortcut. You can change the snip shortcut, the hide shortcut and the others.
Pick one of five themes, from deep black to Glass, which lets your desktop show through. Switch whenever you like, and Snipwise keeps your choice.
Pick the action that runs the moment you snip: Explain, Solve, Quick answer, Practice, Summarize, Extract text or Translate.
Show only the quick prompts you use under the chat, so the ones you reach for are the ones in reach.
Have answers written in English or Spanish, and type any language you like for Translate.
Open the answer window next to what you selected, or keep it where you left it.
Pin the window in front of the others while you work, and click the pin again to let it go.
Keep Snipwise out of screen sharing and recordings while you still see it on your own screen.
Launch quietly in the tray when Windows starts, so your shortcut is always ready.
Turn the smooth animations on or off to suit how you like an app to feel.
WHAT EACH PLAN INCLUDES
Every plan can snip, ask follow-ups and keep a history. The paid plans add more ways to make Snipwise yours. See prices and credit allowances.
Press Alt, Shift and H to hide Snipwise, and again to bring it back. It is always one shortcut away, and you can change every shortcut in Settings.
Paste, drop or attach up to two more pictures to a snip, then ask about all of them together.
Choose which quick prompts show under the chat, so the ones you use are the ones in reach.
Have answers written in English or Spanish, and tell Translate which language you want. The default is English.
Default, Night, Dark, Mono or Glass, which lets your desktop show through. A shortcut can freeze a blurred picture of what is behind the window so the text stays easy to read.
Pin the window so it stays in front while you work in another one. Click the pin again and it goes back to behaving like any other window.
Presenting or recording? Switch on Stealth mode and Snipwise asks Windows to keep it out of screen sharing and recordings, while you keep seeing it on your own screen. It will not show up in your own snips either. It relies on Windows, so it may not work with every program or device, such as a phone camera.
Pick a stronger level for harder questions: Flash is sharper on tricky ones, and Deep is for the toughest. They use more of your credits per reply.
YOUR SNIPS
Snipwise remembers your snips, so you never have to capture the same thing twice.
