Terms of Service
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Draft. A lawyer should review this page before Snipwise launches or takes payment.
1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of the Snipwise app and website, run by Snipwise, a sole proprietorship in the United States ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Snipwise, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Definitions
In these terms, the words below have these meanings (the rest of the page writes them in ordinary lower case):
- Snipwise or the service means the Snipwise Windows app, the website, and the Snipwise servers that handle your account, your plan and your requests. It does not include the third-party services we rely on, such as our AI providers and Stripe.
- Account means your Snipwise sign-in and everything we store for it.
- Plan means any plan we offer, including the Free, Pro and Plus plans.
- Snip means any part of your screen you select with Snipwise, together with anything you send to an AI model.
- Reply means a response from an AI model to anything you send.
- Credit means the unit that allowances, limits and extra credits are measured in. How many credits a reply uses depends on the AI model that writes it, and the numbers shown in the app and on our pricing page are the ones that apply. A plan's allowance is therefore not always the same as the number of replies. Credits are not money, currency or a stored balance of money. They are only a way of measuring how much of the service you can use. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for money.
- Monthly allowance means the number of credits your plan includes each month. For a paid plan it starts again once a month, on the same day of the month as your billing date (a yearly plan is billed once a year but still gets a new allowance every month); for the Free plan it starts again at the beginning of each calendar month (UTC). Unused credits do not carry over to the next month.
- Daily limit means the most credits your plan lets you use in one day, subject to section 6. The day ends at midnight UTC.
- Extra credits means credits you buy in a pack, as described in section 6.
- Content means your snips and the replies you receive.
3. The service
Snipwise lets you select part of your screen and receive an AI-generated explanation, solution, summary or translation, and ask follow-up questions. Features, AI models and limits may change over time. We release updates to the app. The app can download and install them by itself, and you can turn that off in Settings. We may stop supporting older versions, so you may need to install an update to keep using the service.
Replies are produced by AI models run by third-party providers that we choose and may change. Their availability, speed and behavior are outside our control, and an outage or change at a provider can affect the service. See the Privacy Policy for how your snips are handled by them.
Some features depend on Windows or on other software, and we do not promise that they will work in every situation. For example, the Stealth mode setting (Plus plan) asks Windows to keep Snipwise's windows out of screen sharing and recordings. It does not work with every program or device, such as a phone camera or a hardware capture card, and we do not promise that Snipwise will stay hidden from anyone. You are responsible for how you use it, including following the rules of any exam, workplace or platform.
4. Your account
You need an account to use Snipwise. You can sign up with an email address and password or with Google, and we ask you to confirm your email address before you can get replies. Give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity under it. If you think someone else has used your account, tell us straight away at support@snipwise.co. You must be at least 18 years old, or older if that is the age at which you can make a binding contract where you live. Please keep to one account per person. Snipwise is offered to people in the United States and other places where we choose to offer it. It is not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and you must not use it from there. We may block purchases, new accounts and replies from those places. If you already have an account, you can still sign in, cancel a plan or delete your account from there.
5. Plans, billing and cancellation
- Plans. Snipwise has a free plan and paid plans (currently Pro and Plus). What each plan includes, and its price, is shown on our pricing page when you subscribe.
- Billing. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, at the price shown when you subscribe, plus any taxes. Prices are in US dollars. Stripe may show you the price in your local currency, using its own exchange rate, and your bank or card issuer may add its own fees or exchange-rate charges.
- Payments through Stripe. Payments are processed by Stripe through its Managed Payments service. Stripe is the merchant of record for your purchase: it takes the payment on our behalf, calculates and collects the sales tax, VAT or similar tax that applies where you are, and sends you the receipt. The service itself is provided by Snipwise under these terms. Stripe presents these purchases under its Link brand ("Sold through Link"), so your receipts come from Link and the charge on your card statement may start with LINK.COM*. Checkout may ask for your billing address and phone number for that purpose. Stripe's terms and privacy notices apply to those payments, and questions about a charge, a receipt or a refund can go to Stripe or to us.
- Renewal and cancellation. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel: monthly plans each month and yearly plans each year, at the price you subscribed at (or at a new price, if we have changed prices with notice as described below), charged to the payment method you used. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe, on our behalf, to charge that payment method at each renewal until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page, online, without contacting us. Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and it will not renew. Where the law requires a reminder before a renewal, we will send one.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may try your card again over the following days, and we may ask you to update your payment method. Your plan may stay active while this happens. If the payment still cannot be collected, the subscription is cancelled and your account returns to the Free plan.
- Chargebacks. If a payment for a subscription is reversed through your bank or card issuer (a chargeback), we may cancel that subscription straight away. If something is wrong with a payment, please contact us first so we can put it right.
- Upgrading and downgrading. Upgrading to a higher plan takes effect straight away. You pay the difference for the rest of your current billing period, and the new plan then renews at its regular price. Credits you have already used this month still count. To move to a lower plan, cancel and subscribe again after the current period ends.
- Refunds. If you ask us within 4 days (96 hours) of a payment for a plan, counted from the time the payment was made, we will refund that payment in full, and the subscription is cancelled. This applies to a first payment, to a renewal and to the charge for an upgrade, and it does not matter whether you have used any of your credits. After 4 days, we do not refund payments.
- How to ask for a refund. Email support@snipwise.co from the address on your account. We aim to reply within 2 business days, and a refund usually reaches your card in 5 to 10 business days. Deleting your account does not refund anything by itself, so if you want a refund, ask for it first. Where the law of your country gives you a right to a refund or to withdraw from a purchase, that right is not affected.
- Stripe's refund policy. Stripe also has its own refund policy for purchases made through it. It may refund a payment within 60 days of the purchase in the cases that policy describes (for example, a payment you did not authorize or that was taken twice). That is in addition to what we offer here and does not change it. If Stripe refunds a payment, we may cancel the plan, or remove the extra credits, that the payment was for.
- Price changes. We may change prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app, and the new price applies from your next renewal after that notice. If you do not agree, cancel before it takes effect.
6. Extra credit packs
- Buying. You can buy extra credits in packs, as a one-time payment. The price you pay depends on the plan you have when you buy, and is shown before you pay.
- Using extra credits. Extra credits are added to your account when the payment is confirmed. They are used once your monthly allowance has run out, and they also cover the rest of a reply that your remaining allowance only partly covers. They do not expire while your account is open, and cancelling a subscription or moving to the Free plan does not remove them.
- Daily limit and models. Extra credits also let you go past your plan's daily limit, up to twice that limit in one day (credits from your monthly allowance count toward that total too). The models your plan includes still apply, so extra credits do not unlock models that your plan does not include.
- No cash value, and refunds. Extra credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are lost when your account is deleted for good (see section 12). A pack can be refunded in full if you ask within 4 days (96 hours) of buying it, in the same way as a plan payment (see section 5), even if you have used some of its credits; after 4 days, we do not refund packs. Section 5 also explains Stripe's own refund policy. Where the law of your country gives you a right to a refund or to withdraw from a purchase, that right is not affected. If a payment is refunded or reversed, the credits it bought that you have not used yet are removed.
7. Usage limits and fair use
Each plan has usage limits, such as the number of credits per month and per day, and which AI models are available. Some models use more of your allowance per reply than others. Limits are shown on our pricing page or in the app and may change. We may slow or block accounts that go beyond reasonable use.
A reply is counted when we start it. If a reply fails before any of it reaches you (for example, the AI provider is down), it is not counted. If it stops part-way, or you stop it or close Snipwise before it finishes, it still counts, because the AI provider has already done the work.
Free credits also draw on a daily and monthly limit that all Free users share. If that shared limit is used up, Free credits can be unavailable for a while even when you have credits left in your own allowance. When that happens the reply is not counted. Paid plans and extra credits are not affected by this limit.
Your Free monthly allowance is counted for your email address, not only for your account. Deleting an account and signing up again, or using variations of the same address, does not give you more free credits (see the Privacy Policy for what we keep to do this).
To keep costs under control, we may pause AI replies for everyone for a while if the service reaches an operating limit. When that happens the reply is not counted against your plan or your extra credits, and you can try again later.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including by snipping content you have no right to use or content that belongs to someone else's private account or conversation without permission;
- reverse engineer the app, bypass limits, or access the service by any means other than the Snipwise app and website;
- resell, share or automate access, use scripts to send requests in bulk, or create multiple accounts to get extra free credits or avoid limits;
- send malware, attack or overload the service, avoid its security or sign-up protections, or try to access other users' data;
- use Snipwise in a way that breaks the rules of an exam, test, course, workplace or platform you are subject to, including any rule against AI help, or help anyone else do so;
- use Snipwise where United States export-control or sanctions laws forbid it, or while you are on a United States government list of restricted parties;
- use Snipwise to harm, harass, threaten, defraud or deceive anyone, or to help anyone else do so;
- use Snipwise to create or get help with weapons, malware or hacking tools, methods of self-harm, content that sexually exploits children, or sexual or intimate images of a person without their consent;
- use Snipwise to stalk, secretly monitor or collect private information about a person without a right to do so;
- present a reply as official advice or as a real credential, or use one to impersonate a person or organization;
- try to get around the safeguards of the AI models, for example to make them produce what they would refuse;
- use Snipwise to generate other harmful, deceptive or unlawful content.
The AI models behind Snipwise are run by third parties that have their own acceptable-use rules. You must not use Snipwise in a way that breaks those rules, and we may suspend or end an account that does, or that puts our access to those providers at risk.
We may refuse a request, remove content, or suspend or end an account that breaks this section, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of what you snip and the questions you write. You give us permission to process them, including by sending them to our AI providers, only as needed to provide the service to you. You are responsible for what you snip, including making sure you are allowed to share it. A snip can contain other people's names, faces, messages or confidential information, so decide carefully what you capture, and get permission from your employer, school or anyone else where you need it. See the Privacy Policy for how snips are handled.
We do not review what people snip or how they use Snipwise or the replies. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for what other users snip or do, or for what you do with a reply. This does not limit anything that cannot be limited by law, or our responsibility for our own conduct.
Do not snip highly sensitive information, such as payment card or bank account details, government ID numbers, health records or passwords. We do not need it, and Snipwise is not built to protect that kind of data.
If you send us ideas or suggestions about Snipwise, we may use them without paying or crediting you.
10. AI replies can be wrong
Replies are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Check anything important before you rely on it. Snipwise is not professional medical, legal, financial or other advice. You are also responsible for following the rules of your school, employer or exam, including any rules about using AI tools. We are not responsible for what happens if you use Snipwise in a way those rules forbid. Decisions you make from a reply are your own, and different people may receive similar or identical replies. You may use the replies you receive, and we do not claim ownership of them. A reply may include links to other websites. We do not write or check them, so take care before you open one.
Replies are generated automatically by third-party AI models. We do not review or verify them, and we do not promise that any reply is correct, complete or suitable for your purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that result from relying on a reply. This does not limit anything that cannot be limited by law.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Snipwise running, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may update, suspend or discontinue features, including AI models, and will try to give notice of significant changes. The Free plan is provided as is: we may change its limits or end it, giving notice where practical.
Before launch. Until we announce on this website that Snipwise has launched, the service is still being prepared and is not ready for general use, as the notice at the top of each page says. During that time it may be unavailable, may change, and may be reset, which could remove accounts, saved data or extra credits, and you should not rely on it. If you use it anyway, you do so at your own risk. Anything you have paid is handled under sections 5 and 6, including the refund rules.
12. Ending your account
You can stop using Snipwise at any time. You can delete your account from your account page (Delete account). This closes your account straight away and cancels any paid plan, with no further charges. We permanently delete the account and any extra credits you had 30 days later. During those 30 days you cannot get replies or buy anything, and you cannot use the same email address for a new account. If you change your mind, sign in and press Restore my account: it comes back, but a cancelled plan stays cancelled, so you start again on the Free plan. If you want the account deleted sooner, email support@snipwise.co from the address on your account and we will do it as soon as we reasonably can. Deleting your account does not refund a payment by itself: if you want a refund under section 5, ask for it first.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, misuse the service or fail to pay. If we end your paid plan for any other reason, or we discontinue Snipwise, we will refund the unused part of the period you have already paid for. If we decide to discontinue Snipwise, we will give you at least 60 days' notice by email and in the app, unless the law or something beyond our control means we have to stop sooner, and you can keep using any extra credits you have during that time. If you think we made a mistake, email support@snipwise.co and we will review it. We may delete a Free account that has been inactive for 12 months, after warning you by email, but we will not do this while the account still has extra credits.
Sections that by their nature should continue, such as ownership, disclaimers and limits of liability, will continue after your account ends.
13. Our property
The Snipwise app, website, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose while you have an account in good standing. All rights not expressly given to you in these terms are reserved. Parts of the app use open-source software, which stays under its own licenses.
14. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE AND ALL REPLIES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY REPLY WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
15. Limit of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be handled in the state and federal courts located in Texas, unless your local consumer law says otherwise.
If you have a dispute with us, please email support@snipwise.co first and give us 30 days to try to fix it before you start any formal action. This does not stop either of us from using small-claims court, and it does not limit any right you have under your local law.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If the changes are significant we will notify you through the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, unless the law, or a security or legal problem, means they must start sooner. If you do not agree, stop using Snipwise and cancel any paid plan before they take effect. Continuing to use Snipwise after they take effect means you accept the new terms.
18. General
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Snipwise.
- We may send you receipts, renewal reminders, security alerts and legal notices by email to the address on your account, or through the app, and you agree that these count as written notice. Keep your email address up to date.
- If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, that does not mean we give it up.
- You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the business or the service is sold or reorganized, and we will tell you where the law requires.
- Neither of us is responsible for a delay or failure caused by something beyond our reasonable control, such as an internet, power or cloud-provider outage, an act of government, or a natural disaster.
